As Doris announced at the branch annual meeting, we met her goal of doubling the branch membership (from 28 on Feb. 1, 2009 to 56 as of last Saturday). She challenged us to “do it again” before spring of 2010. If you’re willing to talk to your friends about the benefits you get from AAUW, please read on.
In the next few weeks we’ll be sending out renewal invoices to the members who joined before January 1 and haven’t yet renewed. We’d be glad to include materials to help you explain AAUW and this new branch. Options are:
- The AAUW membership brochure with a branch-specific insert to explain AAUW “in the large” to those who might not be familiar with it
- The branch brochure that highlights this new structure for those who are somewhat familiar with AAUW and its branches and an optional insert for AAUW NC members that explains the benefits to those who are already members of another branch in AAUW NC.
- A flyer on the AAUW research reports with information on how to get a copy of the newest report Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. [If you want several copies of Why So Few? contact us for them.]
So post a comment here, on the Facebook note generated from this post, or write to info@tarheel.aauwnc.org if you’d like us to include these in your renewal notice (or send them to you if you’ve already paid for 2010-2011).
Thanks for your help in meeting Doris’s goal and expanding the community of AAUW members so we increase our power to break through economic and educational barriers for all women and girls.
